Required Education

High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience

Five years experience in metal fabrication / machine shop environment. Computer literacy strongly desired. Welding, fabrication, high volume manufacturing, Lean manufacturing, CWI, AWS, ASME experience is helpful.

Job Summary

Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process to insure adherence to specifications and customer satisfaction; compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematic diagrams, or formulas, and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Within assigned areas select products to test at specified stages in the production process; test products for quality indicators such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
  • Record test data and apply statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. * Test tooling fixtures and equipment to insure manufactured products meet specifications.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Keep work area and tools clean and orderly.
  • Work in a safe manner; report unsafe work situations and incidents to supervisor.
  • Follow Fisher Engineering rules and procedures regarding work and conduct. * Complete other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Competencies

Ability to read and interpret material such as safety rules, maintenance and procedural manuals, etc.; ability to write reports and correspondence; ability to instruct individual employees and speak effectively before groups of employees; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
