Continious Improvement Engineer
Work closely with Operations personnel to identify and implement manufacturing process improvements including the designing or modifying of assembly, material handling processes, tools, fixtures, gauges or other equipment. Assume the responsibility of facilitator on assigned projects to maximize implementation and employee acceptance. Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel as required.
•Learn and teach Lean Manufacturing to all plant personnel. Lead Lean Manufacturing actions throughout the plant to include Kaizen Events, Point Kaizens, projects, 3P Events, etc. Work with the Douglas Dynamics Milwaukee facility to share improvements and best practices.
•Utilize Solidworks software to generate tooling, fixtures, gauges and equipment drawings. Must be able to fabricate any item that is designed.
•Implement Standardized Work in all areas of the plant. Write SOW’s, prepare time studies, train personnel, audit personnel and provide feedback to plant supervision.
•Introduce new technology, methodology, processes, tooling, gauges, fixtures and equipment into the plant as part of continuous improvement.
•Update Engineering Change Notices as required.
•Work with Sales and Marketing and Technical Services to support initiatives to improve customer relations and resolve quality issues.
•Support continuous improvement efforts across the plant.
•Follow all Fisher Engineering safety rules; maintain safe work area and equipment.
•Promptly report or resolve any unsafe condition.
•Follow all Company rules, procedures and policies.
Knowledge of and able to apply computers and related software, such as spreadsheet, work processing, CAD, etc., to the solution of engineering problems. Able to use a variety of small hand and power tools, a variety of tool room machines, a calculator, telephone, photocopier, fax, etc. Working knowledge of Lean tools, statistical process controls, DFMEA and PFMEA, geometric tolerancing, DFM, DFA, ergonomics and FEA.
BS degree in a technical field with 1-3 years of applicable experience or PE certification with 5-10 years of applicable experience.
